Hunat Dabaw 5 raises the fun, and raises funds to rebuild Marawi

It was not the perfect fun run weather but who cares? Everyone wants to have some fun, and yes, raise some funds along the way.

That said, Hunat Dabaw 5 hit the streets of Davao City at the break of dawn on September 10 amid burst of colors and foamy pavement.

This not-so-ordinary fun run organized since 2013 by The Royal Mandaya Hotel is staged annually to celebrate the hotel’s anniversary (this time its 19th year) and to raise funds for a worthy project. This year, some of the proceeds went to the Rebuild Marawi City funds of the GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc.

Garbed in hi-viz neon green singlets, some 2,700 runners answered the starting gun in front of the hotel building in Palma Gil Street.

TRMH President Glenn Escandor and the Escandor family led the run along with TRMH officials and employees led by GM Benjie Banzon. Luz Annalee Escudero-Catibog, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and GMA Celebrity Bea Binene also graced the event.

As was tradition, the end of the race meant a hearty all-you-can-eat breakfast, not too bad after a sweat and some burnt calories.

Winners received medals and cash prizes while the rest took home with prizes from the exciting raffles.
