The 1st PhilAPEX opens with eco-PUV Prototypes

The 1st Philippine Auto Parts Expo (PhilAPEX) opens at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), Pasay City, today, with more than 30 auto parts making companies exhibiting their proudly Filipino-made products.

With the theme “Gawang Pilipino, para sa Pilipino”, the PhilAPEX aims to showcase the local auto parts manufacturing capability, present the gains of the CARS Program implementation, and provide opportunity for networking amongst part makers and vehicle manufacturers. The expo led by the Philippine Parts Maker Association (PPMA) will feature the CARS Program Participating Part Makers Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) and Toyota Motors Philippines Corporation (TMPC), presenting the status of their projects under the Program.

Also expected to draw huge crowd is the exhibit of 16 eco-PUV prototypes produced by local assemblers and body builders. This event is a response to the recently-announced PUV Modernization Program by the Department of Transportation (DOTr). Moreover, the Philippine National Standards 2126:2017 released by the DTI-Bureau of Philippine Standards for the new PUV will be officially launched to the public.

With PUV operators also expected to attend, a special government booth for the DTI-BOI, DOTr and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), will be available to answer questions concerning the new PUV franchise regulations, new PUV design, as well as financing.

Delivering their messages in the event are DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III, PPMA President Ferdinand Raquelsantos, MMPC President Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, and TMPC President Satoru Suzuki.

The 1st PhilAPEX featuring the CARS Program and the eco-PUV Prototypes is presented by the PPMA with the support of DTI-BOI, DOTr, MMPC, TMPC and the Automotive Body Manufacturer’s Association of the Philippines, Inc. (ABMAP), and will run until 13 October 2017 (Friday), from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
