Nothing wrong with HNP, HTL backing bets

There will be no conflict or controversy to be created if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio endorses candidates from both Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) and Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL).

This was the statement of HNP-HTL spokesperson Melchor Quitain Jr. on Monday during the HNP-HTL Alliance gathering at the Grand Regal Hotel.

The First District city councilor also said that President Rodrigo Duterte is aware about the alliance, considering that Paolo and Sara Duterte are the leaders of their respective  parties.

Paolo is the president for HTL, a Davao City-based political party; while Sara is the chairperson of HNP, a regional party launched last February.

During the press conference, the allied parties released the list of candidates who will be running in the 2019 elections under the two parties.

Among the list are names of House of Representatives and Sangguniang Panlungsod candidates per  district are Paolo Z. Duterte, Vincent J. Garcia and Isidro T. Ungab will be running as congressman for the first, second and third district, respectively.

Together with Mayor Inday Sara, no politician of consequence in the opposition has dared to file a certificate candidacy (CoC).

The HNP-HTL alliance has  endorsed nine candidates for councilor for the First District, 16 for the Second District and 10 for the Third District.

These are: Maria Belen Sunga Acosta, Melchor Quitain, Jr., Edgar Ibuyan, Jr., Bonifacio Militar, Pilar Braga, Pamela Librado, Nilo Abellera Sr, Richard Duterte and Lyndon Diems Banzon (First District); Danila Dayanghirang, Dante Apostol, Halila Sudagar, Ralph Abella, John Louie Bonguyan, Florence Alejandre, Jonard Dayap, Alain Dureza, Diosdado Angelo Mahipus Jr., Augusto Javier Garcia Campos III, Richlyn Justol-Baguilod, Lyneth dela Calzada, Roger Galido, Rene Estorpe, Constancio Suarez Tiongco and Ma. Tisha Goldie Romarate Delvo (Second District) and Jesus Joseph Paradela Zozobrado III, Antoinette Principe, Mary Joselle Villafuerte, Conde Baluran, Carmelo Clarion, Bai Hundra Cassandra Dominque Advincula, Alberto Ungab, Ramon Bargamento II and Wilberto Al-ag (Third District).

However, on the party’s official list of candidate which was presented to the media, the name for the Vice Mayor is left blank.

Quitain said that the announcement will be made personally by the candidate himself or through Mayor Sara.
