EASY PAYMENTS Davao taxes can now be paid online

Local business taxes in Davao City will now convenient starting Monday, January 7, as the city government will now accept payments online.

City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) acting head Erwin Alparaque said that the online payment system is the first to be implemented by a local government in Mindanao.

The system allows taxpayers to pay their business taxes and other related fees and charges to local branches of the Landbank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines.

“Applicants for the renewal of business permit can just secure their business tax coder payment from the CTO, to be used when they will present it to the bank, either through online to any nearest bank kiosk,” Alparaque said.

He also said that taxpayers can pay their taxes through credit or debit cards, or even through cellphone.

Alparaque said that the new payment system will help decongest the long lines in the CTO office, located inside the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Renewal of business permits started last Thursday, and is extended until 12 midnight of January 31.

Both centers will also be opened on Saturdays, from 8AM to 5PM.

Alparaque said that the move was in accordance with Republic Act 11032, also known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.”

A satellite office is also placed at the Davao City Recreational Center (Almendras Gym) in Quimpo Boulverd to cater more people, from 8AM to 8PM.

The requirements for those renewing their business and mayor’s permits are: previous Mayor’s and Business Permits, previous receipts, notarized list of all employees, and authority to transact the renewal of the Mayor’s Permit with the Business Bureau – a Special Power of Attorney for Sole Proprietorship, Secretary Certificate for Corporations and Partnership Resolution for Partnerships. Also needed are: clear photocopy of valid IDs of all signatories, original Barangay Clearance for business purposes, Fire Safety Inspection Certificate, Certified copy of proof of exemption, if any, and available financial statement of the previous year.
