The Hugpong ng Pagbabago, the party headed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, will campaign harder for four candidates for senator to ensure their victory in the May 2019 midterm election.
They four who are not yet within in the ‘Magic 12’ in the results of the most recent Pulse Asia survey are Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, former Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go, former Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino and incumbent Senator JV Ejercito.
“We need to push more for these candidate so that they will make it to the Magic 12,” Duterte said.
The mayor said she vowed to intensify the campaign for them here in Mindanao but she clarified that she could not do it every
day because she has other obligations as Davao City mayor.
The four are among the 16 senatorial candidates earlier reported to have been endorsed by Mayor Inday, including re-election senator Cynthia Villar, former Philippine National Police director Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Rep. Sajid Mangudadato of Manguindanao.
In a Pulse Asia survey done December 14 to 21, 2018, Marcos is in the 8th to 15th rank tied with former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, 2016 presidential aspirant Mar Roxas and former PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa.
On the other hand, Ejercito is in the 10th to 15th rank, Go is in the 14th to 16th while Tolentino in 17th to 18th.
Meanwhile, Go is elated with his ranking in the latest survey where there is an improvement in his ranking.
He said his leap in the recent survey shows how the people trust him in public service since he only ranked 22nd to 27th in the survey conducted September last year.
However, Go said since it’s still four months to go before the May 2019 elections, it’s still too early and he won’t let the survey results affect his advocacy to serve the people.
He also reiterated his vow to continue supporting President Rodrigo Duterte’s programs for improved delivery of services to the people and for genuine change.
