RC East Davao leading Rotary bowling tourney

The second round of the 24th Inter-Rotary Bowling Tournament is slated Sunday at the NCCC-Matina bowling center.
The Rotary Club of East Davao led in the opening of the tournament with a score of 1,245 points, according to Lope M. Austria, president of the hosting Rotary Club of Sta. Ana Davao, defendinchampion of the annual tournament.
Austria said that a total of 13 teams signed up for the four-Sunday duckpin bowling contest, including RC Pag-asa Davao led by president Mynthia Vicente and RC Calinan under president Ramon “Abay” Bargamento who combined their tiny clubs to put up a team.
Austria said RC East Davao is followed closely by RC South Digos with 1,239 in second; defending champ Sta. Ana Davao, a close third with 1,214 pinfalls. Completing the top 5 are RC Downtown Davao, an all lady club, in fourth and RC Waling-Waling Davao, another all lady club, in fifth rank with 1,140 points.
The other teams in contention are RC Digos (1,128), RC Davao (1,094), RC South Davao (1,086), RC Pag-asa Davao and RC Calinan (1,082) Rc Dvaao 2000 (1,906), RC North Davao (1,062), RC Durian City (1,015) and RC Central Davao (1007).
In the doubles event, Boy Risonar and Marc Fernandez of RC Digos tied with the couple Nandie and Nitz Subido of RC East Davao for No.1 with 712 points each; Rey Reyes and Lope Austria of RC Sta. Ana Davao in second with 697 points; followed by Ramsey Tancontian and Art Galendez, also of RC Sta. Ana Davao in third with 681 points; Eric Cho and Rene Dalayon of RC Davao in fourth with 641 points; and Al Sangki and Anthony Alegria of RC Pag-asa Davao and RC Calinan in fifth with 617 points.
As chairman of the Council of Presidents (of Davao Rotary clubs this year), President Antonio M. Ajero of RC East Davao officially welcomed the players of the 13 teams. Senior Assistant Governor Vir Sojor officially opened the games, while District Govermor-Elect Leoncio “Nonoy” Villa-Abrille gave the inspirational message. The sports event was also graced with the presence of Past Distritct Governor Evelyn “Len” Magno of RC Digos South.
President Austria said the next playing day was last Sunday, October 10.
