Rancho Palos Verdes wins PAL Interclub division title

BACOLOD CITY– As soon as Lito Dublan sank his final putt on the 18th hole, his teammates greeted him with an applause.

Dublan just completed a 37-point effort that wrapped up the Sportswriters Division title for Rancho Palos Verdes in the Philippine Airlines Interclub Seniors edition on Sunday.

Braving the gusty winds of Binitin’s Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, the RPV swingers took the championship with an aggregate 103 points for a 454 total on the four-day tournament–the 32nd edition of the Seniors side of the biggest club golfest in the country.

Abraham Dizon and Deo Cura added 33 points while the 27 of Elias Arriba did not count on the four-to-play-three-to-count scoring.

Overall, RPV’s Noe Taojo finished as the team’s leading scorer with 86 points followed by Randy Cadiogan with 77, Eugenio Serado 76, Josue Tesado 74 while Deo Cura and Dublan tied with 73 each, Abraham Dizom 65 and Arriba 61.
inishing second behind RPV was Forest Hills Golf Club which finished the day with 117 points for a 434 final score.
Two-day leader Veterans Golf Club Team A slid to third spot with an aggregate 110 points for a 429 final score.
Bacolod Golf was fourth with a total 429 points while  Iligan Golf and Country Club now took 5th place tallying total of 416 points in the tournament.

The other three Davao clubs did not fare as well as RPV. Davao City Golf Club finished 6th with a 442 total  while Lanang Golf was a far 11th with a 410 total. Both teams are playing behind eventual division winner Alta Vista Golf and Country Club topping the Aviator division with 481 total points.

Apo Golf and Country Club ended up 15th in the Founders Division hitting 117 points contributing to their 478 total on their final day.

Canlubang stile the Championship title from defending champion Luisita in the premier division.

The tournament is backed up by Primax Broadcasting, RMN and Fox, while major sponsors are BusinessWorld Publishing, Rolls Royce, TV5, Philippine Standard, Boeing, Under Armour, Eton Properties and Asia Brewery.
