RPV lands 4th on rain-soaked conditions

BACOLOD CITY—Not as good as their Seniors squad, but just as worthwhile.

Davao City’s Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club finished a strong fourth in a powerhouse-laden Aviators Division field of the 71st Philippine Airlines Regular Men’s Interclub Golf Tournament on Sunday.

With the muddy terrain and the soaked fairways of Marapara’s Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club making the final push more challenging, the RPV swingers shot an aggregate 92 points on the fourth day that summed up their 4-day stint with 383 points.

With top gun Vincent Gumapac leading the final day squad with 27 points, the Cabantian-based parbusters got 22 each from EJ Casintahan and Mark Lopez and a 21 from Jose Addy Briones.

RPV’s Seniors squad earlier won the Sportswriters Division title a week ago for its breakthrough triumph in this tough tournament attracting the best in the country and overseas.

The other Davao teams in the same division–Apo Golf ranked tenth with a total of 355 points and Davao Golf was 11th with 333 points.

The lone Davao entry in the Friendship Division Lanang finished 8th with 263 points.

South Cotabato Golf and Country Club rallied on the last day of the tournament to take the Friendship division title with a 309 over the Fiipino Golfers Association of Kuwait and three-day leader Bay Area Golf Org which had 303 points.
