Another night, another explosion.
Despite being marked all throughout the game, Sec. Christopher “Bong” Go always found a way to get by. He got through the PSG defense this time with seven triples in leading Team Duterte to a 91-69 win and stretching its winning streak to four games in the Go For Hoops basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Genesis 88 Gym.
Go, the sweet-shooting special assistant to President Rodrigo Duterte, had a game-high 34 points to lead the way for Team Duterte while his backcourt partner Glenn Escandor, Presidential Adviser for Sports and director of the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas 11, added 11 points.
“I just focused on the game as I always treat this as my official break from work no matter how short it may be. Nakakapagrelax din,” said Go who devotes his time all week 24/7 as the President’s most trusted aide. Go is averaging close to 40 points in the tournament so far, exploding for 40 and 54 in his last two outings.
“It’s a good start so far. We hope to keep our momentum going in the next games,” added Escandor who had some good looks at the basket from the weak side when the defense collapses on Go.
The 4-0 start kept Team Duterte’s stronghold of the leaderboard.
Taguinod scored 12 while Mayola and Go made 10 apiece for PSG’s losing effort.
