TAGUM CITY–Davao City are the Kings of the Hardcourt after scoring a 91-59 victory over Cagayan de Oro City in the finals of the 2019 Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg at the Rotary Park basketball gym on Friday.
After Davao City held off the two toughest contenders in the competition in Tagum City and Talisayan, the finals was considered predictable, perhaps.
Made up mostly by Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) and some choice pick-ups from Jose Maria College (JMC), the DC hoopsters mentored by Nestor Sorrosa and Roger Rabago were simply unstoppable in the finals.
Closing the first half with a comfortable 40-26 lead, Davao City dictated the entire game.
Alexander Tila and Christian Mesias led the charge by scoring 20 points each while Roldz Miguel Perez was just as hot as the score leaders, dropping 18 points from the paint.
Motivated by its sluggish start in their last two games, Davao City assured that their finals appearance would be a lot more different.
Apart from its big three, Davao City was also sparked by Jankurt Lobo, Adrian Urmenita, Dave Pansacala, Enzo Salonga, Norman Mayola, Rhyan Gomez, Francis Lindo, Ricces Ian Cuajao and
Gabriel Borcegue who will fly to the National Finals 2019 slated October in Bohol.
