Caltex came from behind to seal an 89-80 overtime win over SanMig Light in the resumption of Uraya Fortys Ballers Club (UFBC) Regular Season held last Sunday at the Elenita Heights court, Barangay Catalunan Grande, Davao City.
Trailing by eight points, barely two minutes left in the match, the fancied Caltex cagers were almost about to concede. Japs Sabio, however, didn’t let it happen. With efficient support from his teammates, Sabio took the helm of leading the team when everything was about to collapse.
Sabio fired eight straight points with no answer from the other side of the court and forced a 71-deadlock just before the buzzer.
From there, Caltex cruised through in the five-minute extension with the momentum swinging on their favor.
Sabio finished with 38 points including 11 treys.
Caltex, thus, ensured its spot in the best four of the league organized for ballers 40 years old and above.
SanMig Light, on the other hand, relied on the service of Jucas Tejada who made 23 points.
In another action, the MDI Carwash turned back DC Construction 73-65, behind the heroics of Dominic Recto.
Recto scored 20 points, stopping the team of his arch-rival Juoit Cuadrasal who made 25 points for the DC Constructions.
