Make Jesus your hero, public servants told

Amid media blitz on endless graft and corruption scandals, incredible extravagance and other misconducts of some government functionaries, public servants are urged to become true heroes and instruments of public good by making Jesus Christ as their perfect role model.
Atty. Ma. Faith Presbitero, Director II of the Civil Service Commission Davao del Norte Field Office asked public officials and employees to make Jesus Christ as their personal hero and their inspiration in serving their clients, “whether he be an illiterate client, or one denied the basic rights of man, a worn-out colleage or a wealthy customer hungry for righteous model.”
Christ, according to her, is the greatest of all heroes, the richest, the most powerful, and the most noble of them all.
“But, Jesus left the splendor of heaven and identified with the poorest of the poor, healed the sick, suffered and gave the ultimate sacrifice of a hero – His life, so that by His death all of us may live,” Presbitero said.
She pointed out the many ills of our society will be solved when every Filipino, especially the public servants will follow the example of this ultimate Hero, drawing inspiration from Him and giving Him the highest honor and faithful obedience in the task of building the nation.

She stressed one does not need to be dead to be a hero, since unlike fallen heroes, “we don’t have to be more honored in death beyond what we are in life.”
Gov. Rodolfo Del Rosario, on his part, enjoined Capitol officials and workers to be worthy of their calling as stewards of public trust.
“Public servants must stand through the honor and be the exemplars in their own little ways. We must stand true to our service oath… and achieve objectives through teamwork in satisfying the needs of our clients,” he urged during the opening of the month-long celebration, where the Citizen’s Charter of Davao del Norte was also launched.
