ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat — Gov. Pax Mangudadatu said the sacrifices of a soldier to help liberate Marawi Ctiy from the hands of terrorist will not go unnoticed.
Mangudadatu led officials of Sultan Kudarat and the Army’s 33rd Infantry Battalion in honoring a soldier who paid the ultimate sacrifice while fighting in Marawi City.
Lt. Colonel Harold Cabunoc, chief of the 33rd IB based in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, said Mangudadatu led the officials in honoring PFC John Bernaldez, 28, who died in a fierce encounter with Maute terrorists in Marawi City on June 26.
“It is my honor to salute the heroism of PFC Bernaldez, a son of Sultan Kudarat,” Mangudadatu said during the necrological services for the fallen soldiers on Sunday.
”The people of the province will never forget the sacrifices of our soldiers who have died for the country,” he added.
The governor also handed over cash assistance to the parents OF Bernaldez, whose remains was brought to the provincial capitol for public viewing and necrological services.
Bernaldez was laid to rest Sunday.
Cabunoc said his unit has assisted the family in rendering appropriate honors for the fallen hero. (EOF/PNA)
