Anti-drug unit cop shot dead in Zambo

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) is conducting a thorough investigation to identify the riding-in-tandem gunmen behind the killing of a policeman assigned with the anti-drug unit.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the slain policeman as SPO3 Ronie Adanza, 43, of the Police Station 2’s Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET).

Galvez said the incident happened at around 9:53 p.m. Thursday at Cariño Compound in Barangay Camino Nuevo, this city.

Galvez said Adanza, who was on his way home aboard a motorcycle, stopped to have a conversation with a group of people upon reaching the inner portion of Cariño compound.

She said two men riding in tandem on another motorcycle arrived and shot dead Adanza without any provocation and sped off.

She said Adanza was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive. Three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.(Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA)
