2 more slain in city streets

Two persons were killed while another survived attacks by unidentified gunmen in separate incidents in Davao City last Wednesday night, bringing the death toll in mysterious murders to nine.
The first victim, Alvin John Cariquitan, 27, unemployed, was shot at around 9 p.m. in Purok 19-B Garcia Heights in Bajada where he sustained three gunshot wounds, two in the head and one in the stomach.
At 11 p.m., one alias Dodong Bangkay was shot along San Pedro Street. Davao City Police Office chief Ronald dela Rosa, who happened to be nearby, brought the victim to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) where he died at 4 a.m. Thursday.
The killing of Cariquitan and Alyas Dodong Bangkay brought to nine the number of persons killed by unidentified assassins since July 2.
The last victim who survived wounds in the neck, arm and foot, was Joey Velez, 19, of Purok 8-A Tibungco. He had been shot by a gunman aboard a motorcycle.
