Authorities here have monitored at least 1000 individuals who have allegedly obtained fake identification cards following the declaration of Martial Law in the entire Island of Mindanao.
Davao City Police Office Director Sr. Supt Alexander Tagum said his office has received information that at least 1000 Dabawenyos ordered the printing of fake IDs since Thursday afternoon after they have conducted ‘Oplan Bulabog’ in two barangays here.
“With the result of Oplan Bulabog here (on Thursday) we have received intelligence information that more than 1000 individuals have already availed themselves of fake IDs in our printing presses here in Davao City,” Tagum said.
He said that they are now conducting investigations to identify the holders of those fake IDs.
Tagum said that they already have information of the kind of fake IDs that were made in a store here in the city.
But Tagum hough did not say if those that obtained the fake IDs were sympathizers of the terrorist groups.
He said that they will file charges against those who will be caught having fake IDs, including the printing presses churning out fake ID cards.
“Our investigation is ongoing, we will make sure that charges will be filed against these people and the manufacturer as well,” Tagum said.
Mayor Sara Duterte said that the National Bureau Of Investigation already started their surveillance on the known places here that makes fake IDs.
“The NBI is conducting operations against known areas for making fake IDs, one of which is the area fronting the University of Mindanao,” Mayor Duterte said.
On Wednesday, Mauor Duterte already asked Dabawenyos to carry with them valid IDs to prove their identities.
On Thursday, DCPO conducted Oplan Bulabog wherein 250 persons of interests were invited for verification after they have received information that suspicious looking individuals entered Barangay Mini Forest and Barangay Bucana.
After the verification of their identities, all persons of interest were brought back to their respective houses.
