Davao-based chocolates will be featured on the up- coming international events ‘The Salon de Chocolat’ in Paris October 28 to November, considered the biggest chocolate event in the world.
This will be followed by the North Western Chocolate Festival in Seattle which will be held on November 9 to November 12, 2017.
Leading the Philippine participants are Malagos Chocolate, Nutra Rich, Rosario’s Delicacies and Kablon Chocolates from Polomolok. They will be joined by the Manila-based chocolate Theo And Philo Chocolates, Iraya chocolate from Batanggas and the Ginto Chocolate from Bohol.
“We will also include the Orro chocolate, Laguna based chocolate factory that is getting its beans and quality control in Davao,” Val Tutur, executive director of Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao (CDAMI) during the Kapehan sa Dabaw on October 9, Monday.
Philippines was able to get one slot in the best cocoa contest in the Salon De Chcoloat.
“Pumili sila ng 50 cacao beans from 170 countries and isa ang Philippines sa kanila napili,” said Tutur.
The significance of this event is that once the beans are labeled as fine beans, their price will definitely increase. He said he will attend the event to receive the recognition because he is the one who submitted the entry.
A total of 59 delegates will attend the 5 day convention in Paris
On the other hand, the North Western Chocolate Festival and Conference will be held at Seattle USA. The two day conference will discuss the flavor, characteristics and qualifies of chocolates and the two day festival will display the products Tutur will present the same Chocolates.
“It’s really about introducing the Philippine cacao to them,” said Tutur.
He said participating in these events will bridge the producers to international market and to know the profile taste of the Europeans.
“Our farmers only markets in the Philippines but this time we will try to penetrate the European market,” said Tutur.
