The new Regional Crime Laboratory Office building and its newly acquired state-of-the-art crime lab equipment will ensure faster delivery of forensic services not only within the Davao region, but also in the entire Mindanao.
This was bared by President Rodrigo R. Duterte during the inauguration of the building and facilities on Monday afternoon.
Duterte said with these enhancements, the police regional office and the regional crime laboratory office would be able to address capability gaps.
“ I am confident that our PNP (Philippine National Police) personnel in the Davao region will now be able to perform their duties more effectively,” President Duterte said.
PNP chief Director Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa was elated with the new building and facility of RCLO 11.
“This is a dream come true for Mindanao policemen,” Dela Rosa said in his speech.
Dela Rosa said the facilities of RCLO 11 will cater to the forensic needs not only Davao Region but also the rest of Mindanao islands.
“Through this facility, the police will no longer have to travel to Camp Crame to perform laboratory examinations,” he said.
The PNP chief said the RCLO 11 has the same capabilities like in their national office because of its state of the art facility.
Dela Rosa said the crime laboratory has the automatic fingerprint identification system, DNA laboratory, bullet comparison microscopes for firearms identification, among other major capabilities.
He also thanked Foreign Affairs secretary Alan Peter Cayetano for the P50 million allotment used in the construction of the building.
Dela Rosa said the budget allotment came from the country-wide development fund of Cayetano when he was still senator.
