The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is ready for the upcoming Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) to be held here in Davao City on February 17-23, 2018.
“We already have a security plan for this which includes the target hardening measures to strengthen the security in DAVRAA vital installations, facilities and equipment,” said DCPO Spokesperson Senior Inspector Teresita Gaspan during the Ispeak media forum held at Davao City Hall on February 8, Thursday.
She said that they have cooperated with the inter-operability of the arm services who will help the DCPO in implementing the strict security. They will also utilize the force multipliers like Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATS), Police Auxiliary.
Community Public Awareness and Support and intensification of timely information gathering is also included in their security plan.
“There will be a maximum deployment of personnel, though I cannot give you the exact number of police force personnel and there will be additional police deployment from the Police Regional Office XI to maintain peace during DAVRAA,” she said.
She said the augmentation will also help them prevent any criminal activities that will affect city and to secure the public safety especially the athletes and delegates.
The participants will be secured from airports up to their billeting areas. She said that there will be police personnel in those areas.
“From airport upon their arrival there will be police in the area and also in their billeting area and in the places where the games will be held,” she said.
She advised the athletes and delegates to exercise vigilance to avoid untoward incidents and if possible they should not display their gadgets or jewelries so that they will not be taken advantage. She said that the police will be visible in all areas but it is also better to be vigilant.
Around 50 Police Tourist will be available inside the malls and hotels and there is also police assistance desk that are ready to cater their needs.
“Our Police will be visible, they can approach our police most especially those visitors who are not from Davao and are not familiar of the area. They will be assisted by our police,” she said.
