Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte will ask the local political party Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod for the person who will replace the seat in the Davao City Council left by now Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag.
Duterte bared on Saturday that Barangay Captain Carmelo Clarion of Mulig, Toril will fill up the vacant seat left by Al-ag as third district councilor.
“We requested an endorsement from the Hupong saTawong Lungsod for Barangay Captain Clarion of Barangay Mulig to appoint him as eighth councilor of the third district,” she said. The mayor said Clarion was endorsed by her brother former Vice Mayor Paolo Z. Duterte because Clarion knows the issues in the district.
“Nakita ni Vice Mayor Pulong and sa kadtong mga tao sa partido nga grounded and experience ni Barangay Captain Clarion because Kapitan siya so kabalo siya sa very basic grassroots issues (Former Vice Mayor Pulong and the other members of the party see the grounded experience of Clarion because he is a Barangay Captain so he knows the very basic grassroots issues),” he said.
Duterte said the experience of Clarion will be useful in the City Council especially in making legislations to regulate the issues and concerns of every barangays in the city.
She said the appointment will be forwarded to President Rodrigo R. Duterte for his approval since he has the final say.
“Maghulat lang kung unsa ang aksyon sa Office of the President with regard to that pero gi-prepare na nato ang papers (We will just wait for the actions coming the from the Office of the President but we already prepared the documents needed),” she said.
Al-ag left his seat as councilor last January to assume the Vice Mayor position left by Paolo Duterte after President Duterte accepted his resignation. The elder Duterte tendered his resignation in a special session on Christmas Day last year for delicadeza following the squabble between him and daughter Isabelle.
