City to hand out 10,000 food packs for Araw

The Davao City government will give 10,000 food packs to the Dabawenyos on the culmination day of the 81st Araw ng Davao.

City Human Resource Management Office head Erwin Alparaque bared on Thursday’s I-Speak Media Forum this was the announcement of Mayor Sara Z. Duterte during the Araw ng mga Empleyado on Wednesday, inviting all the people here in city to celebrate the founding anniversary.

Alparaque said the food packs is open to all people and will be distributed after the Parada Dabwenyo.

“Maski dili siya taga Davao basta naa siya sa Parada Dabawenyo nagtan-aw ba o nag-apil, mo pila siya didto sa atong distribusyon (Even people who are not from Davao City, whether spectators or participants, they can avail themselves of it as long as they will fall in line on the distribution areas),” he said.

He said the distribution will be at C.M Recto Street from the Royal House going to corner Bonifacio Street.

For his part, Lawyer Raul Nadela Jr., Duterte’s chief of staff, said the distribution of the food packs is a show of appreciation to those who would go outside and join the city’s celebration.

“The City Government is very thankful to those people who will really come and join us in our celebration. The Araw ng Davao is really for them,” Nadela said.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will also deploy security personnel on the distribution areas to assure the safety of the people.

DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan said personnel from Mobile Patrol Group and Task Force Davao will be deployed in the area.

The food packs for the people is backed by Pilipinong may Puso Foundation and Petron Foundation who was already the partner of the city government during previous activities.
