Irked PRRD all-out in bid to oust Sereno

President Rodrigo R. Duterte is now taking head-on against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

This after the President got irked with Sereno’s statement telling the President that he must explain his unconstitutional act by letting Solicitor General Jose Calida file “quo warranto” petition against her.

“I am putting you on notice that I am now your enemy and you have to be out of the Supreme Court,” Duterte said in his departure press briefing at the Davao International Airport.

The president said he will be helping Calida on finding evidence against Sereno to see to it that she will be ousted from her post.

“I will see to it that, then I will request the Congress to go on the impeachment right away”

Duterte also asked House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to fast track the impeachment of Sereno.

“Nagpapasensya lang ako kasi babae (I am just extending my. patience because she is a woman), but this time I will ask the congressmen and the Speaker, do it now and don’t make any dramas or else I will do it for you,” he said.

He already said he did not meddle on the filing of quo warranto petition of Calida in the Supreme Court.

“Sinasabi ko na sa iyo na hindi ako nakikialam, ngayon sige ka diyan daldal ng daldal sige upakan kita (I told you that I do not meddle on this but you keep on blabbing then I will now give you a blow),” he said.

He said she will really go after Sereno and he will conduct investigation against the Chief Justice.

Duterte said it is not his habit to go against his detractors because he will just let it go.

“I have no history on that. Speaker (Prospero) Norgales during his time filed so many charges against me, reaching to the Supreme Court, I never retaliated,” she said.

He said the impeachment and hearing og the quo warranto petition can be heard simultaneously.

Duterte said he will work out on the case of Sereno just to make sure that she will be out of the Supreme Court.

Earlier, Sereno questioned the move of Calida asking Supreme Court to invalidate her appointment through a “quo warranto” petition.

According to oag.ca.gov, quo warranto is a special form of legal action used to resolve a dispute over whether a specific person has the legal right to hold the public office that he or she occupies. It is used to test a person’s legal right to hold an office, not to evaluate the person’s performance in the office.

She also asked about the basis of her impeachment complaint was a letter she sent to Duterte seeking due process against members of the judiciary accused of involvement in the illegal drug trade.
