With an eye for a Guinness world record, Davao City will unveil a 200 kilometer-long buntings as part of its 5th Visit Davao summer fest that will run from April 15 to June 30.
City councilor Al Ryan Alejandre said on Tuesday the target is to hang the buntings from Santa Cruz town in Davao del Sur down to Mati City in Davao Oriental.
Alejandre said that if successful, it will be longer than the 17.6-kilometer of buntings achieved by PoelerEinwohner und Freunde (Inhabitants and Friends of Poel) in InselPoel, Germany for current world on August 25, 2013.
In this year’s 5th Visit Davao Summer Fest, Davao City is working with neighboring provinces to host a set of activities to be offered to foreign and local tourists.
Generose Tecson, City Tourism Operations Office Head said during the i-Speak media forum on Thursday that the buntings symbolize Davao Region whose component parts are working hand and hand towards progress and development.
Aljandre added that the event will showcase sports activities, arts, and culture, parties and leisure, as well as discounts to entice tourists to visit Davao Region as their next summer destination.
Aljandre said the event will showcase sports activities, arts, and culture, parties and leisure that bring summer experience to a whole new level not only in Davao City but to the other parts of Davao Region
“It will also offer discounts to entice tourists to visit Davao region as their next summer destination,” he added.
He said the 5th Visit Davao Summer Fest is much bigger this year, “that’s why we are also expecting more tourists to visit our region.”
