Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, a former defense attache in Washington, DC, USA, will be the keynote speaker of the twin event hosted by former intelligence operatives in Davao City on April 21.
The event, which shall be held at the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center, Inc., is the 12th Reunion of the Association of Sphinx (AOS) and the 1st Assembly of the Sphinx Society of Southern Mindanao (ssss3m).
AOS is currently led by Nic Reyes of Cagayan de Oro while the ssss3m, subsidiary group, is headed by Lt. Manuel B. Sipaco (Ret.).
Sec. Lorenza, who was formerly assigned as commander of the Army’s 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion based in Malagos district, Davao City, will talk on the subject of ‘Enlisting Old Links and Networks: Strengthening the Military Intelligence-Gathering.’
Also attending the gathering of spies are former generals and other intelligence officers who continue to be involved in community-oriented engagements that have something to do with peace and order and inter-military cooperation.
Just recently, active military intelligence operatives of the Armed Forces of the Philippines met at at the NSFA, Camp Panacan, Davao City to analyze numerous threats posed by insurgent groups like the Islamic State-affiliated blocs and the rebel New People’s Army (NPA).
