About 37 Filipinos, including two minors, repatriated from Indonesia arrived at the Davao City’s Sasa Wharf aboard BRP Ramon Alcaraz on Sunday.
Not even one is a resident of Davao City but the local government, through the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO), provided them with immediate help — even facilitating their return to their respective homes.
“Among them were two minors and most of the adults were fishermen, who have been detained in Indonesia for about a year. None came from the city,” said CSSDO chief Maria Luisa T. Bermudo.
Bermudo said those repatriated were received by a team from CSSDO, Central 911, the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
“The city provided them medical assistance upon arrival and after assessment, they were all conveyed to the airport or terminals, depending on where they came from,” she said.
The names of the repatriated families were not made available. There was also no mention what Philippine provinces they come from or how they were able to be detained by Indonesian authorities. CIO
