Davao City eyes more ICT investment

The city government expects more investors to put up Information and Communications Technology (ICT) related investments in the city.

The projection came after Skynora Corp. became the latest company to put up ICT-related business in the country. The company prides itself as the first one to put up a cost-effective service integrated office in Davao City, especially for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies.

“We are very pleased to learn that this co-working space is the largest in Mindanao and will now be open to potential BPO locators,” Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) officer-in-charge, Lemuel Ortonio, said in a speech read by Christan Cambaya during the inauguration of the Skynora Hub on Thursday.

Ortonio said Skynora Hub’s presence in the city is timely in the wake of strong interest from potential investors who are looking for convenient, functional and flexible workspaces.

“The year 2017 was a particularly good year for Davao City. It is now home to more than 40,000 businesses, a six percent increase from 2016 and a total investment value of P270 Billion, which is an 18 percent increase from 2016,” he said.

Ortonio said they expect this growth to continue in 2018 with a projected increase of 6 percent in the number of business establishments.

“We are confident that your offerings and services for the BPO sector will thrive and prosper,” he added.

Ortonio also described the establishment of Skynora Hub as significant as this will showcase Davao City as “today’s best investment destination in the country, equipped with cost-effective spaces.”

Ortonio assured Skynora’s officials of DCIPC’s necessary support needed to help their business grow and prosper.

“Our Investor Assistance and Servicing Uni will ensure that Skynora Hub will be included in our databank of locations for our clients. With your entry, you are redefining BPO office experience in Davao City,” he said. CIO
