The hog industry and its allied services are once again abuzz with excitement as it awaits the holding of the 19th Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits – this time in Davao City on April 8 to 10 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
“We’re very excited already and we look forward to another successful turnout,” said ProPork president Albert Lim, Jr. “We have been very lucky that thousands of people come every year. It just shows that they are interested to learn from the seminars and to check out the state-of-the-art services and equipment of our exhibitors.”
This year’s theme — “Ensuring survival through efficiency and improved pork production” — will educate participants on practical and technical information and tips from experts – helping them secure the safety and profitability of their farms.
The event, hosted by Davao Hog Farmers Association, Inc., and organized annually by the Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines, Inc. or ProPork (formerly the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc.), is expected to welcome thousands of participants and exhibitors who are eager to learn new techniques to sustain the growth of their businesses.
The annual event – the biggest and longest running trade exhibition focusing on the swine industry — gathers thousands of commercial and backyard hog raisers from all over Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
The gathering is free to the public and is considered a “must go” event, especially for those thinking of setting up their own hog businesses.
The three-day event will have a series of seminars on various subjects such as prevention and eradication of common swine diseases, swine management and swine genetics, among others.
Aside from the main convention, the gathering will also host the 3nd Backyard Hog Farmers Congress which focuses on the needs of the backyard hog raisers so they can further grow their livelihood.
Exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and services, ranging from innovative equipments and the latest in veterinary products and animal care. There will also be live hog exhibits from the different breeding companies.
The major sponsors of the 19th HogCon are Pilmico Animal Nutrition; Robina Agri Partners; Infamco Group of Companies; Boehringer Ingelheim Phils., Inc. Pfizer Animal Health, Broadchem Corporation and AGAP Party List.
The annual convention and trade exhibits is part of ProPorks mission to protect and promote the interest of the hog raisers as well as enhance the opportunities for growth, efficiency, equity and sustainability of the P150-billion hog industry.
