The Philippine delegation, led by Dr. Roy B. Ferrer, current national president of the Ambassador Club International (ACI), and lawyer Leoncio “Nonoy” Villa-Abrille, ACI immediate past national president, both Dabawenyos, was cited as the biggest country contingent to the ACI’s annual world conference in St. Gallen, a city near Zurich, Switzerland.
The delegation, which was the only one from a country in Asia, also included former Davao City vice mayor Louie Bonguyan and lady Ching, businessman Lito Oasan, Michelle “Lalay” Oasan also from Davao, Francis Iclan, Jean Ty, Janet Chang, and Raul Reyes of Manila.
During the gathering, Ambassador Martin Schwarz, a practising lawyer, was reelected world president for another three years, while Ambassador Martine Spiess, a lady, was elected to the ACI international management committee. Janet Chang was also reelected as delegate for Asia Pacific of the int’l management committee.
The delegates from other countries were amazed at the barong tagalog and Filipina gowns worn by the Philippine delegation members in one of the plenary sessions.
Next year’s annual world gathering will be in Utrecht, The Netherlands, Ambassador Ferrer said.
