Expat – Generics pharmacy, good news for expats

by Klaus Döring

A couple of months ago, a good friend informed me about “The Generics Pharmacy” (MABISA na, MATIPID pa!!!). During that time I easily found one of the first branches in Davao City fronting Agdao public market. I mentioned it in one of my previous columns here. Meanwhile, “The Generics Pharmacy” expanded more and more. Imagine: almost 700 locations can be found nationwide. Check it out: www.thegenericspharmacy.com.
The price structures between leading brands and generics is enormous and show differences up to 200%, a fact attested to by former BFAD director and consultant William D. Torres, Ph.D.
No wonder, the Philippine Franchise Association  describes “The Generics Pharmacy” as one of the most promising franchises of the year and has promoted it eversince: “Franchise now!”. Call UFRANCHISE at 02-634-3717.  The main store and offices are located at 459 Quezon Ave cor. Banawe Street in Quezon City.
There’s one more wonderful thing about it. Filipino licensed pharmacists don’t have to go abroad because “The Generic Pharmacy” is recruiting new pharmacists nationwide!
Last but not least: “The Generics Pharmacy” offers also full 20% senior citizen’s discount. It is also good news for expats living in the Philippines, those with a permanent visa to stay, that is. They can apply for a senior citizen’s identification card upon reaching the age of 60. In Davao City, go to the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs under the stairs of the Sanggunian Panlungsod, A. Pichon avenue side, and ask for the requirements.  Davao OSCA acting head Francisco T. Rivera and his staff will take good care of you.

Am off for Manila and might still be there while you are reading this column. I am attending an orientation seminar in the Goetheinstitut. Hopefully, typhoon Ramil chooses another direction. The Philippines, my beloved second home, has suffered enough already.
