The Rotary Club of East Davao (RCED), the biggest of the more than 100 clubs in Rotary International District 3860 covering the Visayas and Mindanao, will feature four Davao lady artists in a piano concert at the CAP auditorium along Anda St. in Davao City on December 5.
This was learned from Rotarian Klaus Doring, chairman of RCED’s special committee on the concert. The concern is part of the worldwide activities of Rotary International (RI) to raise counterpart funds for the eradication of polio, boosted by the recent donation of more than $200 milllion by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
“We have seen the ravages of polio many times in the past,” Doring said, paraphrasing a blurb in the fund campaign. “An individual with an underdeveloped limb, a child who cannot walk because of the absence of muscular development, and a young girl who has to drag herself on the floor because of her abnormal legs. These are all images of how this disease can hamper the quality of life of its victims. Rotary International has long been in the forefront of the fight to eradicate polio throughout the world,” he continued.
In spite of current financial challenges, RCED, led by aviator and transportation entrepreneur Roni Go, believes there are benevolent individuals and groups out there who can help to erase this devastating disease from the face of the earth, Doring said.
The classical music concert entitled “The Music We Share Will Show the World that We Care,” the “Four Dabawenya pianists on Four Pianos”– Mila Cabaguio Jocson, Evelyn Abellera Magno, Daphne Cabaguio Jocson and Ma. Luisa “Inday” Fucoy Montero. The lady pianists who have been presented together a number of times will perform for a diverse audience in Davao City and from other parts of Mindanao.
This will take place on the 5th of December 2009 at 6 p.m. at the CAP Auditorium, Anda Street, Davao City.
