Globalization has become a controversial topic of daily politics an the talk of the town. Choose one of the most important topics nowadays: climate change.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel had hoped for more than the bare-bones minimum at the Copenhagen Climate Conferende. Not only she! And, she has warned against ‘bad-mouthing’ the outcome. Okay lang. Sorry, but I have another opinion!
In an interview with the German daily “BILD AM SONNTAG” the Chancellor defended the meager (?) results, saying it was at least a “first step” toward a new (?) global strategy on climate change. Okay lang. Sorry again, but I have another opinion.
Fact is – and here I join many peoples’ wagon: many protesters blamed the failure on the U.S. and China.
Globalization – please allow me to repeat – has become a controversial topic of daily politics. The new political movement, critics of globalization, are globalization impressions themselves. They are organized internationally especially through the global media.
Living worldwide are more or less 2 billion humans in absolute poverty. Such people have less than one dollar for their daily expenses. And, the foreign aid projects of “Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development” countries drop and drop and drop… .
If we analyze the Human Development Index by the United Nations Development Program, we might see a remarkable improvement since the mid 70s. But the global poverty is still depressing. The increase of unequal social situations is obvious and seems to be insurmountable.
Sure, we are moving and coming closer and closer to each other. Rich countries can’t afford any more to turn their backs on poor countries. The global debt problem is much more dramatic as we can imagine. Or do we love to shut our minds, especially if most most (or some0 of our politicians set a good example? In Copenhagen or somewhere else?
It’s well known with proofs that most African countries will never be able to wipe out and repay their debts, which sometimes are up to 125% of such countries’ expected Dollar or euro payments. This forces inevitably the debt trap’s reproduction.
The world doesn’t need a global financial backer as “in the LAST INSTANCE” or without further appeal – no, the world needs a global financial backer as “in the FIRST INSTANCE”, who helps poor countries import needed goods and by pay in their own currency.
The global multimedia systems impart to inhabitants, especially to those from “poor countries’ are an unattainable and inaccessible abundance. Logical consequence: the dream to go abroad and look for life’s golden goal or global modern nomadism becomes an economic time bomb.
The world has to find a new balance between global world trade, international conditions of social policy as well as national stability. Nationalistic pride and the readiness to work together hand in hand and shoulder by shoulder for our nation, instead of talking big or listening a lot of these empty phrases nowadays, should be the priority in our minds and hearts. For the sake of our nature protection and many more other things touching our life and future.
