MetroLifestyles launches flex meets strike classes

By this time, the climate is getting colder while the cooling breezes blow amid scattered rainshowers. Too many opportunities exist at MetroLifestyle Fitness Center & Spa to stretch and flex those muscles instead of just being lazily bundled up at home.
Make plans to adapt your exercise regimen as achievable as possible – to lose weight and to get fit as your #1 2010 Resolution.   This is best time of the year to start with MetroLifestyle’s Flex Meets Strike classes.
Launched on January 11, 2010, ‘Extreme MetroFlex’ started at 4:00-5:30 pm as an introductory class for Ms. Cherie Diel Calamba who is from the Emerald City – Seattle, Washington USA.  ‘Hot MetroStrike’ class followed at 5:30-6:30 pm. Ms. Cherie was welcomed by MetroLifestyle Managing Partner Jeomerson Lozano, with a warm support from MetroLifestyle instructors Nell Astudillo, Ivy Ko and Joy Olimba.
Pressed for time? Extreme MetroFlex  is a Yoga/Pilates based workout to stretch and flex while burning fat, keeping your physique on track even when your schedule isn’t.  Plus, training the mind as well.
Ms. Cherie Diel Calamba puts it, as her teaching philosophy:  “Aim to be as attentive to matters of perspective and attitude as to form and physical rigor.  Classes typically begin with the suggestion that participants forego the pursuit of conventional goals and ideals – detach from practices of ego that weaken and divide through the striving ‘to be better than.’  Intention is to develop greater awareness of, and thus critical regard toward, lower practices of mind. Aim to sustain focus within the body which, by training the attention, provides release from the critical, frenetic activities of the mind.  Physical exertion meant to contribute to work of developing concentration, which along with cultivating selflessness, enables participants to proceed with greater humility, compassion and courage in their daily lives.”

Ms. Cherie is a fitness instructor and corporate fitness trainer with Certifications from Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher and YMCA Certification as Pilates, Martial Arts, Aerobics  and Step Instructor.   Her academic background also explains her intellectual take on fitness with an ongoing PhD studies on Comparative Literature, having finished an MA in Comparative Literature and Liberal Arts.  She has an impressive languages proficiency in French, German, Spanish and our national language, Tagalog.  Her strong presence and confidence comes from formal training in the Performing Arts at the Fine Arts Core Education, Montreal, Quebec and theater performances.

Now, on to Hot MetroStrike!   As martial artists put it, Hot Strike is meant to prevent, protect and respond.  This is where you learn the basic, non-contact martial arts fitness program with moves drawn from Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Muatythai, Capoiera and Tai Chi.  Part of Hot Strike is realizing that around the middle of the fitness process, you start to see everything coming together and actually becoming something.  Something that was once just a thought in your head and now feel more confident that you can actually do it.
