AboitizPower’s Drawing contest winners bared

AboitizPower, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Hedcor, Inc., announced the winners of the On-The-Spot Environmental Drawing Contest held at SM City Davao.
Eight of the sixteen winners are from the Davao region. Sixth-grader Theo Astudillo of Berkeley of Baguio City bagged the Grand Prize. His winning entry shows a planet filled with greenery and was held by a hand.
The other winners are Lenard Malban of Francisco Bangoy Central Elementary School (1st Runner Up – Davao), Angelina Louise Pacis (1st Runner Up – Benguet), Azel Joi Adarlo of Davao City Special School (2nd Runner Up) and Hansel Cambod (2nd Runner Up – Benguet).
There were seven consolation prize winners, four of whom are from Davao City and two from Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. The consolation prize winners were Arian Ceasar Alipio of Holy Cross of Davao College, Jericho C. Dapiton of Tugbok Central Elementary School, Lemuel Mahinay of Francisco Bangoy Central Elementary School, Ferdinand Ortiz of Tudaya Elementary School, Jhay-Ann D. Opon of Mintal Elementary School, Jon Louis Salinas of Sta.Cruz Elementary School and Danielle Florendo of Baguio City.
The winners received their respective framed entries, a wall calendar where there drawings were printed and a cash prize from the company’s executives Rene Ronquillo, Gregorio Jabonillo and Darlene Arguelles yesterday at the Hedcor offices in Ladislawa, Davao City.
“It is our pleasure to use the kids’ drawings in our 2010 calendar which are distributed all over the country”, said Ronquillo in his message to the winners. “We are thankful to the students and the teachers for making this calendar possible and for helping us in increasing the awareness on protecting our environment,” the organizers said.
The winning entries were judged by the executives of AboitizPower during its executive meeting last January with the following criteria: originality (40 percent), relevance to the theme (40 percent), and over-all impact (20 percent).
The contest was a simultaneous activity in Davao and Benguet. AboitizPower received a total of 187 entries from both areas. Davao City and Benguet are hosts to the 15 run-of-river hydropower plants of Hedcor, Inc. while the 42.5-MW Sibulan Hydropower Project of is located at Barangay Sibulan, Sta. Cruz. Davao del Sur.
