Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Director, Dr. Anthony C. Sales, awarded three Youth Excellence in Science (YES) medals to the pupils of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) namely: King James Fetalvero, Marx Vincent Cobol and Anna Sofia Serrano during the General Assembly on February 1, 2010.
The DOST through the Science Education Institute (SEI) has institutionalized a recognition system for young achievers in International Science and Mathematics. The YES Awards is being implemented yearly to further motivate and inspire the youth to strive for excellence in the fields of Science and Mathematics.
Marx Vincent Cobol and King James Fetalvero won Bronze medals during the 2009 China Primary Math Olympiad in Tianjin, China on August 5-14, 2009. On the other hand, Anna Sofia Serrano won Bronze medal during the 5th International Mathematics Competition (IMC) in Singapore on August 20-24, 2009.
