First tourism summit 2010 slated

The city tourism operations office (CTOO) through the Tourism Council of Davao City with the support of various tourism organizations will be hosting the first Tourism Summit 2010 on April 5-8, 2010 at the Garden Oases Restaurant and Resort.
Tourism Summit 2010 aims to convene all tourism stakeholders, including the unorganized sectors in the tourism industry for a four-day workshop, interactive discussions and exchange of issues and concerns. It will endeavor to provide a venue for the different tourism-related sectors, such as restaurants, hotels, resorts, travel agencies, tour operators, tour guides, bars, cafes, airlines, transport operators and other tourism-related establishments, to identify strategies and areas of collaboration to further promote and advance an effective and sustainable tourism development in the city.
The highlights of the four-day summit include discussions on the current and emerging trends in the tourism industry and the orientation of all tourism industry stakeholders on the Tourism Code of Davao City.
; brainstorm suggestions for the formulation of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of City Ordinance No. 0328-09, Series of 2009 otherwise known as an Ordinance Regulating the Tourism Industry in the City of Davao; discussion on the proposed sectoral “Code of Ethics”; identification of each sector’s role in advancing an effective and sustainable tourism development in the city; and articulation of commitment of the different sectors in the development of an effective and sustainable tourism industry in Davao City.
The summit, in line with the CTOO’s DaWoW program, intends to provide an opportunity for all tourism stakeholders to strengthen their commitment in providing quality and efficient service to our visitors and guests, enhance partnerships and collaboration and work harmoniously for the benefit of the tourism industry.
