Marco Polo joins Earth Hour 2010

The Marco Polo Davao upholds its green tradition by taking part in Earth Hour 2010, a global sustainability movement that celebrates our planet and raises awareness of climate change issues.
Earth Hour is “a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future,” according to organizer World Wildlife Fund for Nature.
Earth Hour 2010 invites individuals, businesses, and communities to switch off lights on Saturday, 27 March at 8:30 PM.
“Our hotel’s participation in Earth Hour 2010 is yet another specific, concrete action to conserve energy and save Mother Earth,” general manager Nigel Fisher said.
The Marco Polo Davao’s pledge of support is part of its corporate commitment to contributing to a cleaner and greener world. Further, the hotel uses green products and environment-friendly strategies and procedures that promote energy and water efficiency.
This commitment to a healthy planet has not gone unnoticed. Early this year, Marco Polo Davao won the ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award 2010. This international award acknowledges the hotel’s outstanding efforts in environmental sustainability and energy conservation. Marco Polo Davao is the only Mindanao city hotel to win this green award.
“I hope our guests and associates will consider being part of this small but significant step in the global revolution of protecting our environment,” adds Fisher.
Last year, the Philippines ranked Number One in the world in the number of cities and municipalities that participated in Earth Hour 2009. Over 15 million Filipinos in 650 major cities and towns switched off their lights.
