“THROUGH AboitizPower and Hedcor, the residents of Barangay Sibulan now lead a better life,” said Davao del Sur governor Douglas Cagas during the turnover ceremony of the three farm-to-market roads at Barangy Sibulan in the town of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur last week.
The newly opened roads totaling four kilometers at a cost of P7.5 million were formally handed over by Hedcor vice president Gregorio Jabonillo to barangay chief of Sibulan, Lydia Ang.
To date, Hedcor Sibulan, Inc. has opened and rehabilitated 49 kilometers of farm-to-market roads in barangay Sibulan and barangay Tibolo.
AboitizPower, through Hedcor Sibulan, Inc., accelerates countryside development in Brgy. Sibulan by bringing in sustainable development projects to the area in terms of education, livelihood and health since the construction of the 42.5-MW Sibulan Hydropower Project started in June 2007.
Brgy. Sibulan plays host to the 42.5-megawatt Sibulan Hydropower Project which taps the Baroring and Sibulan rivers in Barangay Sibulan, Sta. Cruz.
With two run-of-river hydropower plants, it will generate 212 GWh of sustainable energy annually. Its expected operation is seen to lessen the power deficit in Mindanao, specifically in Davao City.
“We continue to commit to the development of Barangay Sibulan as the host community of the Sibulan Hydropower Project”, said Jabonillo.
