Eyes on the ball. Eyes on the ball. This is the rhythmic concentration inside the head of James Yap, hailed as Big Game James, on his kingdom that is the basketball court. And with the Big Game comes the son, who we all know as Baby James.
The celebrity tandem comes full circle as they join the roster of It’s Time! advocates for Sun Life Financial Philippines. As father and son’s first project, they embody the wisdom and benefit of investing for one’s retirement as early as you can.
Amidst the controversies, a mature and doting James Yap emerged during the shoot of their TVC. As a 28-year-old father and husband, he believes in ensuring a secure and stable future for his family by starting on his retirement fund while still young.
“Anything can happen, especially sa career ko sa basketball. Ang sigurado ko lang, hindi siya pangmatagalan. So habang strong at kumikita ako, I want to make sure na secure ang future namin,” Yap explained.
He also added that the TVC’s very plot moved him, especially when he cradled his son during one of the shoot’s most sentimental scenes. It tells of a father not wanting to be a burden to his son in the future
Still, it was not only the Big Game who commanded attention. Baby James was the darling of the crowd as he easily breezed through one take after another. Like a true professional, he took his father’s hands and acted so naturally for the camera.
“He is such a trooper and a very lovable kid. I think he will have a great future in the entertainment industry, or whatever he wants to be when he grows up,” says Mylene Lopa, Sun Life Financial Marketing Services Head.
“As his dad, responsibility ko din na tulungan siya maabot ang mga pangarap niya at huwag maging pabigat sa kanya pagtanda ko” Yap added.
