Or should I better ask: “How do you deal with your RISING electric bills?” Since a couple of months ago I observed dramatically rising electric bills. And not only me. When I spoke with several people about it here in Davao City as well as in the provinces, I got a lot of information how they try to save energy and lessen the bills.
Let’s sacrifice and turn off our air conditioners, no matter how hot it is outside! Can you do it? I am sorry, I can’t, especially while staying in the office.
Let’s change old bulbs to CFLs! Great. I did it and most people in my surroundings.
Let’s turn off all lights and appliances when not in use! Yes, sure, although I have been told about my being stingy. Hey, we’re talking about RISING electric bills!
TV watching and radio listening is limited! Will this really bring down your electric bill as much?
There are a lot more energy, electricity saving tips from every electric company. Review the facts and focus on solutions. Monitoring our electric consumption is indeed the one and only move. Of course, a lot of people rely upon the new local and national administrations, which hopefully will look into the matter, preferably to moderate the greed of those responsible. Of course, for many of us, with ever-increasing power rates, no amount of saving can suffice. How one of my expat friends commented on it: “I sigh, shrug it off and pay the bills as they come!”
Not everybody can say so…!

Thrift and economizing; economizing and thrift. Tighten our belts! BUT, up to 25,000 Germans took to the streets of Stuttgart and Berlin last Saturday to protest the government’s austerity package. This comes as the opposition is turning up the heat on chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition government. Understandable. Anywhere the men (and women) in the street must foot the bill being the result of mismanagement and political incompetence.

Halfway between Copenhagen and Cancun – Global Media Forum 2010 “The Heat is on – Climate Change and the Media” in Bonn/Germany June 21-23, 2010. the yearly international media conference in Germany, which no media person should miss. The discussion about using alternative energy sources that are locally available are indeed of great and additional help in lowering our monthly electric bills.
