Convenience store originator contemplating on franchising

Davao Central Convenience Stores, Inc. (DCCSI), Davao City’s very own 24-hour service stores, will be eyeing the franchise market soon.
“We are planning to put the DCCSI in the franchise market soon, but we are still on the drawing board,” said vice president for operations Clark Yap.
There are 82 convenience stores all over the Davao region, including Davao City, Digos City, Tagum City, and Mati.
Yap said they are set to open their first branch in General Santos City this year, although still under the company. While the DCCSI pioneered the 24-hout service store in the region, they are on the lookout for the growing demand for this type of store in other areas.
The DCCSI opened with one store along Anda St., this city, in 1998. Since its incorporation in 2002, it has expanded and opens at least 12 such branches every year.
He said the main consideration for opening up a convenience store branch in a certain area is its foot traffic and accessibility from schools, bus stops and other commercial establishments.
The corporation employs between 700 to 800 employees in the Davao region.
Yap said opening the convenience store idea to franchising will not only make the stores more visible, but it will also be able to fulfill its original mission of providing better, cheaper and more accessible service to the people.
