“Takbo Laban Sa Droga” is more than just a regular fun run. Aside from raising awareness for the fight against illegal drugs, it is also a celebration of partnership with different organizations who share the same vision, at the same time, a humanitarian service to the community of Davao City.
In celebration of its 8th anniversary, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) launched a fun run activity in partnership with MetroLifestyle Fitness Center & Spa last July 25. The early morning anti-drug campaign fun run was only one of the various activities PDEA has prepared to drumbeat the fight against illegal drugs.
PDEA 11 regional director Roybel M. Sanchez shared his vision with the participants before sending off the runners on a 5-kilometer fun run around downtown Davao from (and back to) MetroLifestyle Complex passing through the city’s main streets under the powerful slogan . “Health, not drugs!”
Other officers who joined in the fun run were deputy regional director for admin Emerson Rosales, plans and operation division chief Naravy Duquiatan, administrative division chief Mary Veil Alpiz. The PDEA group of runners representing director general Gen. Dionisio R Santiago (Ret) and deputy regional director for operation, Aileen Lovitos.
The participants who supported “Takbo Laban sa Droga” included fitness members and employees from MetroLifestyle, a police contingent from PNP-11 under regional director Atty. Pedro Yu-Tango, Task Force Davao courtesy of Col. Oscar Lactao, and students from the University of Mindanao’s “Jr. Drug Busters” and Holy Cross of Davao College’s “Students Against Drugs.”
The same week featured two feeding programs for the beneficiaries of the PDEA Outreach Program for the less fortunate children under the care of Christ the King Our Saviour Parish on July 28, and Rescue-A-Child foundation on July 31 as part of its community service.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was created to serve as the implementing arm of the Dangerous Drugs Board and is responsible for the efficient and effective law enforcement of all the provisions on any dangerous drugs and/or controlled pre-cursor and essential chemicals.
The PDEA envisions a drug-free Philippines.
“Takbo Laban Sa Droga” was held in partnership with sponsors Davao Diamond Industrial Supplies, Flexochem Traders & Producer, Inc., Adlaon Farm, Tesoro’s Printing Press and Majinbuu’s and Coca Cola. The top five finishers received gift certificates courtesy of Extreme Make Over Auto Supply.
