Hero Sausages develops meat types of the sausages with saba—pork, chicken and “Dundee Croco” meat. Davao region produces saba, which known for its best in taste, health benefits and consistency.
Hero’s “Dundee Croco” meat is hygienically farm grown crocodile meat from a coral farm, the Coral Agri-Venture Farm, Inc., an accredited AAA by the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).
The coral farm is authorized to sell commercially. Growing dundees started as a special interest and passion that turned into a serious farm business, animal preservation and health benefits advocacy.
For countries like Australia and Thailand, crocodile meat based dishes are very common and are a basic part of their menu in the restaurants. Crocodile meat is the leanest white meat, only one calorie per gram, good for asthma. It is also a natural aphrodisiac.
On December 2009, Dundee Sausages, a German type of sausages, were developed and launched in the Philippine market. Dundee Sausages are made of 100% pure “Croco” meat, and is free from any food coloring, Msg and extenders. Dundee Sausages are also made of natural hog casing. For non pork eater market, collagen casing is used.
On November 05, 2010 during the “DATE 2010” and “1st Philippine Global Banana Summit” of the Davao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, three new Hero Sausages with Philippine Banana were launched at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
These three new sausages with saba are: the dundee “Croco” Hungarian sausage, chicken curry sausage and pork Schublig sausage.
Dundee Hungarian sausage is a healthy option for the market, combining both the health benefits of “croco” meat and banana. This product is part of Hero’s commitment to use regional (particularly from Mindanao) raw materials in our products to help promote the local produce and its uses to our own product lines (which are from Luzon). It is in line with the synergy, cohesiveness and inter-regional product development of LUZVIMINDA regions.
“Hero” is the first Filipino meat processor to develop crocodile meat based sausages in the
Philippines. Dundee’s creations, especially the processed meat products will continuously be
researched and developed to make sure that the taste and pricing will be acceptable to the
market.
The use of crocodile meat in the Philippine food industry is quite new but since dundee
Sausages was launched last December 2009, the market response has been very encouraging and
promising, not only in Luzon but also in the Visayas and Mindanao as well. For this reason and to cater to the exotic food niche market, Dundee Creations will continuously be formulated.
