It’s barely two months before the Christmas holidays but Bluejaz has unveiled its newest Christmas treats to Dabawenyos with the launching of the Jazule Coffee Shop and the Pirate Ship.
Guests from the mainland, who arrived by boat straight from the Maryknoll Drive jetty last Saturday evening, did not at first notice anything extraordinary. But when the press conference was over, they soon beheld an eerie sight when an unidentified boat appeared through a haze of smoke and slowly approached the Bluejaz jetty to the haunting strains of a song from the soundtrack of Pirates of the Caribbean (“Dead Man’s Chest”) that wafted through the night air. Then all of a sudden, the pirate-garbed crew disembarked from their “ship” and filled the Bluejaz pathway before the very eyes of the awe-struck guests who could only stare at the magical reality before their eyes. Such was the dramatic launch of the “Pirate Ship” which will be a regular fixture of the resort from thereon.
“The Pirate Ship is available for weddings, parties, company events and other occasions,” Bluejaz Resort manager Noel Martin said. The ship itself may also be used by groups for island hopping, he added.
Martin was referring to the 92 x 12 feet boat with a height of 24 feet which can accommodate 150 to 200 people at a time. However, the passenger capacity will be pegged at a minimum of 84 people. [Lovely A. Carillo]
Bluejaz owner and namesake Jazmin Middleton said the Pirate Ship had a back-to-back launch with the Jazule Coffee Shop.
“None of the mainland coffee shops can claim to have the best seaside view that is provided by Jazule,” she said.
Most of Jazule’s fixtures were personally brought over by Jazmin from the United States. The ambiance is certainly a radical departure from that of traditional coffee shops anywhere on the mainland. And that’s what makes Jazule Coffee Shop a very special place to sip one’s favorite brew.
