The cold breezes of December are in the air, signaling the advent of the Christmas holidays. People are thinking of ways how to better spend this time with their families in more meaningful ways than just merry-making. One of the best times to have a good time together is to set a “gym time” after all the sumptuous meals that characterize the season.
Getting the whole family into a workout routine is a great way to keep everyone active and healthy. Adults and parents can help children become more active by setting an example themselves, and children can help their parents to stay healthy, too.
Family wellness has become a trend at MetroLifestyle Fitness Center & Spa. While, MetroLifestyle is equipped with machines, aerobics classes and facilities that fit both male and female adults at any fitness level, it also offers martial arts and dance classes for kids and teens.
In starting a young family, 33-year old dad and businessman Jaypee Pacheco enjoys working out while modeling healthy activities to his children. His family workout time allows his wife Annalea to do cardio exercises and boxing, while their 2 kids attend their preferred classes: 8 year-old son Miguel is a Yellow Belt in Bushido Karate, and 7-year-old Isabel dances her way to Fit2Danz (or F2D) Jazz classes.
“By working out as a family, we have something to talk about when we get home or before bedtime. Communication is important for us to build a strong foundation as a family,” Jaypee confidently shares about his active and talented family.
For 47 year-old Tom MacIntosh and his family, “Sharing a fitness lifestyle gives us one more thing in common that we can all relate to while enjoying the benefits of improved health and energy.”
No wonder that his svelte wife Evelyn, who particularly likes circuit training can still be mistaken as one of the siblings. All their four daughters love yoga during MetroFlex classes, including the younger ones Connie, 16 and Katie, 13. Aside from yoga, Bethany, 19, enjoys PowerBoxing, and Julia, 18, prefers strength training just like her dad.
Julia MacIntosh adds, “It allows us to know our strengths and weaknesses. Once we’ve accomplished a set goal, not only are we proud of ourselves but we are proud of each other.”
Simply put, “a family that works out together, stays forever,” says Ruel Baluyot, 44 years old. He enjoys the many different choices of cardio machines and exercises at MetroLifestyle, together with his wife Melanie, 40 and fifteen year old son, JV.
