PNoy lauds outstanding OFW families at BPI and OWWA family awards rites

President Noynoy Aquino led the awarding of Model OFW Family of the Year Award (MOFYA) at the annual awarding ceremony held recently at the Grand Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) continue to honor exemplary OFW Families through this annual event which is aimed at empowering overseas Filipino families.
For the sixth year and running, MOFYA honors outstanding OFW families who have demonstrated best practices in achieving success in their respective professions as well as in maintaining strong family relations even in the face of overseas migration of one or more members of the household. The Award also seeks to recognize families who have made a positive impact in their community.
BPI believes that overseas working Filipinos and their families deserve recognition of their achievements and for their desire to provide a greener pasture for their loved ones.  BPI has been supporting the MOFYA awards and holds various programs for overseas Filipino communities worldwide.
“BPI has committed to empower our overseas Filipinos not only in showing support for awards such as the MOFYA, but also through our own BPInoy Programs,” said Aurelio R. Montinola III, president of the Bank of the Philippine Islands.
In addition to its support of the MOFYA, BPI lifts up the overseas Filipino through its specifically designed programs, such as the BPInoy Learning Programs, the Search for Ten Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children, and the BPInoy Awards.
BPI sustains its BPInoy Learning Program, an initiative to educate overseas Filipinos on matters beyond banking, such as investing, growing a business, and handling long-distance family communications. The bank also organizes the BPInoy Awards and the Search for Ten Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children in recognition and support of overseas Filipinos who make a change for the better for country despite the distance.
Last November, the bank awarded ten outstanding expat Pinoy children from various schools nationwide for their exemplary academic and non-academic achievements; and recognized this year’s chosen BPInoy Awardees Dr. Manuel Cacdac and Charice Pempengco for their outstanding contributions to the global Filipino community.
