Some 500 alumni of the Cateel National High School (formerly Cateel High School/Cateel Provincial High School) in Cateel, Davao Oriental will come together for four days, April 28 to May 1, 2011, for what is anticipated to be the grandest ever reunion in 65 years of the school’s founding.
Interim association president Orensi C. Peñanueva said that alumni residing abroad – USA, Canada, Germany, Australia and Asia are expected to grace the affair.
The program for Day One will feature a dinner at the residence of Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon Malanyaon, an alumna. Panabo City Mayor Jose D. Silvosa (alumnus) will deliver the main speech while former governor, Maria Elena T. Palma Gil, will give a message. The evening affair will have a Hawaiian motif.
Day Two will start with a parade, followed by sports and parlor games. Cultural shows will cap the evening followed by the election of new officers of the alumni association.
Day Three is set aside for an Alay Lakad, Civic Action and Medical mission. The culmination night will take place at the Centennial Park where the new officers will be inducted into office followed by the awarding of prizes to the winners of sports competitions and parlor games.
On Day Four, alumni will make a Balik Tanaw campus tour and take in the sights of Cateel’s tourist spots like Aliwagwag Falls. Langyawan Cave and Tres Marias Falls.
The 2010 Cateel National High School Alumni Association interim officers are: Orensi C. Peñanueva , president; Felomina U. Dujali, vice president; Nellie E. Maunes, secretary; Delma C. Paras, treasurer; Julian A. Cabueñas Jr., auditor.
