The P2.141–million 3-classroom school building constructed by Davao Light with counterpart fund support provided by the government of Davao City, is about 80 percent complete.
This was ascertained after Davao Light engineer Herbert Lariego of the procurement and logistics department inspected the project at the Mintal Elementary School campus last July 14.
The building is designed as a single story structure. When completed it will have tiled floors, including its veranda, with individual lavatory for each of the 3 rooms, and ready to tap electrical facilities, lighting fixtures, water taps, and curving blackboard.
Of the total cost, Davao Light through its social development arm, the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., pays P1.498 million while the remaining balance of P.642 million or 30 percent of the cost, is shouldered by the city of Davao to be drawn from the 2011 Local School Board budget.
Davao Light expects construction to be finished by the first week of August and may turn over the new building anytime the following week.
Davao Light was among private business groups that were invited by the local government to attend the weekly Flag Raising ceremony at City Hall. Those invited were given certificates of appreciation for their support to the city’s effort to mobilize resources to provide relief assistance to the thousands of flood victims in the Matina Pangi and Matina Crossing areas last June 28 and 29.
