Tagum City – Tagum’s response to the World Summit on Information Society Plan of Action is finally here after it launched the first ever TECH4ED station in the Center of Justice Building yesterday, December 18, 2018.
The TECH4ED project of the Public Education and Employment Services Office is an idea from the Philippine Community eCenter program which is a National Digital Inclusion initiative that according to PEESO, establishes “eCenters that provide critical eGovernment and ICT-enabled services in communities with minimal or no access to information and government services.
This covers the technology empowerment for education, economic development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
TECH4ED station in the CJT building is the first among three stations planned by PEESO in partnership with the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT). The other two are expected to be located in the new public library that will open soon in the City Historical, Cultural, and Arts building that is still under construction and the other one will be near the public market and terminal inside the Palengskwelahan building.
The primary beneficiaries of this project are the Alternative Learning System (ALS) students. As stated by Rene Grace Pisawis, this would assist learners like him in looking for jobs and research purposes.
The station is open from Monday – Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
According to Engr. Eduardo Tuquilo, the Info Tech Officer III of DICT this will aid the Tagumenyos to be ICT literate.

He added that the country is going towards more advanced society in terms of technological use so it is in the best interest of the people to learn how to use the internet and its tools such as computers. Furthermore, DICT is planning a free wifi public spaces project that the Filipinos all over the country should await.
