WCOPA’s silver medalist visits Mati Mayor Rabat

Mati pride Franco Ben Rocamora paid a courtesy call on City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat Thursday, August 8, after arriving from Hollywood in California, USA.

Rocamora, Mayor Michelle’s nephew, recently joined the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) where he won the silver medal in the Vocals Open Category.

Mayor Michelle expressed delight on her nephew’s feat saying that Franco Ben does not only bring honor to their family but to the entire Mati community as well.

WCOPA is the only “World Talent Olympics” which is held annually in and around Hollywood.

This international competition is participated by different countries all over the globe and it showcases various talents through singing, dancing, modeling, instruments, acting, and variety arts.

It is in this competition that Jed Madela won as Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World in 2005. Madela was Rocamora’s vocal coach and mentor.

The 23rd WCOPA was held at Long Beach Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, Los Angeles from July 12-22, 2019.

Around 70 countries competed with 106 Filipino delegates. (CIO MATI)
