The days of merely managing chronic pain are over.
Mindanao is now home to a cutting-edge medical facility that promises not just relief, but a renewed way of life for those suffering in silence.
The AGAPE (Anesthesiologists Guild of Advanced Pain Experts) Pain Management Center officially opened its doors on the 7th floor of the North Wing of Lanang Premiere Doctors Hospital, Inc., along Dacudao Loop in Lanang, Davao City on Tuesday, bringing a new era of specialized and compassionate care to the region.
The center, a first-of-its-kind facility in Mindanao, is equipped with advanced techniques and world-class expertise to help patients get back to doing the things they love.
The AGAPE Pain Management Center was founded by three young board-certified anesthesiologists – Dr. Joeriz P. Veliganio, Dr. Philippe Michel V. Manalaysay, and Dr. Jesse Jane L. Paco.
Their specialized skills were honed through intensive training with renowned Indian interventional pain specialist Dr. Gautam Das.
“The intention is to revive and to bring into reality once again the concept of a pain management center. When we talk about a pain management center, it will have to encompass a lot of services, not only with regard to consultation, giving medications that are therapeutic, but are limited in terms of providing the best possible care for our patients,” said Veliganio.
Whether your pain is muscular or nerve-related, tied to cancer, a lingering sports injury, or part of a post-surgery recovery, the center offers a diverse menu of sophisticated treatments to meet your individual needs: Diagnosis and Management (Pharmacologic & Interventional) options for musculoskeletal and nerve pain, cancer-related pain, acute musculoskeletal pain, chronic musculoskeletal pain, headaches, frozen shoulder, back pain, hip pain, buttocks pain, knee pain, and foot pain, ultra-sound guided diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks, platelet rich plasma for musculoskeletal pain, radiofrequency ablation for nerve pain, neurolysis, diabetic foot screening, and acute (less than 3 months) or chronic (more than 3 months) before and after surgery pain management.
“We bring our expertise to the level of doing it for pain medicine,” Veliganio added.
The AGAPE center isn’t just a clinic; it’s a collaborative community committed to providing holistic care for patients.
Veliganio said by focusing on pain as a critical part of overall well-being—often called “the fifth vital sign”—the center helps patients achieve a healthier life.

“The one’s benefiting our services is the community as a whole because the community has wide scope of pain experience from acute, meaning less than six months of pain that includes post-oeprative pain that existed even after surgery down to the chronic type of pain like senile and elderly patients who suffer from osteo-arthritis, frozen shoulder-those are chronic pain conditions that we would like to help with our techniques,” he said.
This patient-centered approach is reflected in the center’s slogan, “Where Pain Ends and Comfort Begins.”
By looking at pain as a critical part of well-being, AGAPE aims to not just lessen discomfort but to empower people in Mindanao to live more comfortably.
